It’s critical to have certain routine tests conducted before/after traveling to/from a foreign country to ensure that you don’t contract any contagious infections. This is important for your personal safety as well as the well-being of others. Awami Lab provides a Special International Travel Package that may include laboratory tests.
BEFORE TRAVELLING
Make an appointment with your doctor or a travel health professional at least one month before your departure. They can assist you in obtaining immunizations, medicines, and information relevant to your destination. When you tell your provider about your health issues, as well as your schedule and planned activities, they can provide you with more specific advice and recommendations.
DURING THE TRIP
- Take precautions to stay safe and healthy when traveling, and avoid situations that could ruin your trip.
- Soap and water should be used to wash hands. If soap or water aren’t available, use a hand sanitizer that has at least 60% alcohol.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a napkin or your forearm when you cough or sneeze (not your hands).
- Avoid coming into contact with sick people.
- If you become ill while traveling, stay in your accommodations unless you require medical treatment.
AFTER TRAVELLING
A typical post-trip medical visit includes a detailed discussion of your travel schedule with your healthcare practitioner. They may inquire about potential high-risk exposures to food, water, animals, and people in detail. The physical exam part of the appointment focuses on specific signs and symptoms and may include blood testing to determine if you have been infected with certain diseases and whether treatment is necessary.
